When it comes to the resurrection of Jesus many try to undermine this powerful and central truth in Christianity by peddling lies about the event. Some claim the disciples stole the body and then lied to cover up the truth. That lie is still popular today. But my biggest problem with this theory is this: Whats the win for the disciples in this? What do they get out of stealing the body of Jesus? Do they get riches or notoriety? They were kicked out of synagogues. They were fired from their jobs. They were run out of their homes. They were thrown into prison. They were tortured. They were murdered. People will die for a lie if they think it is true. But people do not die for a lie when they know it is not true. And yet, the early Christians went all over the world, were tortured, crucified, burned in oil all for a truth that changed everything for them. One thing I know for sure...the disciples did not steal his body.
