When it is a Salman Khan film, oppulent sets, vibrant colours, foreign locales, mean machines, spectacular effects and all that jazz that skyrocket the budget of a film without sufficient value-addition, happily go missing. And that is because HE IS LARGER THAN LIFE and in Jai Ho salMAN as a commonMAN is as awe-inspiring as (if not more) any other super-bat-spider-ironMAN! This film shows the real life Khan in a reel avatar. One look at the ensemble cast of the supporting actors and you know this man has a heart of gold. From struggling newcomers to fading stars to forgotten television artists...he has got everyone on the bandwagon. The film has a one line plot- one man can make a difference and be the harbinger of social change. Hence do not go in with the expectation of a gripping storyline...performances to marvel at...or any other cinematic brilliance...you get what you already know...Salman, the Being Human Khan! It was difficult to remember that it is a 9am show at a multiplex on a weekday given how the viwers went into a frenzy everytime the tiger roared on screen. There are enough ceeti-taali moments as there are moments which moistens the eyes. Yes, the ritualistic shirtless moment does come at the fag end of the film and you cannot help but admire (or salivate as is the case with me) irrespective of who you are! Salman Khans movies do not see the pre release promotional circus as does that of other big names. He relies on his loyalists and their word of the mouth publicity...as a dreamer and optimist...I truly wish people spread the THANK YOU in the same manner. Wondering what it means?
