When $ just isnt ENOUGH... Sometimes the job isnt worth the money. The clients not worth the money. The opportunity isnt worth the money. Sometimes the $$$ just isnt worth it. My partner always says there is more than one way to be happy and I stand behind that 100%. While going to the gym daily and calorie counting might keep you trim and healthy... does it make you happy? Likely not ALL the time (like when your best friends slicing her bday cake). Likewise, working only for the $ likely wont make you happy. Oh sure, it will for awhile... it did for me. But eventually, youll realize that there is more to this life. Sometimes working for bad people. Taking on too much. Losing balance. Being stressed out. Its not worth it - no matter what short term financial gain youll have. Our 20s are all about pushing envelopes and working ourselves half to death to buy our first home, marry the one we love, start breeding. So we do it. Because were told that is the next step. Work hard, succeed and then start your life. Your 30s are all about realizing how much HOOEY that whole logic is. Why work myself to the bone every day for $ IF my life goals dont mean I need a huge mansion, 3.5 kids and a rock the size of Gibralter on my finger? Your 40s and up (I cant sadly speak yet from experience) but if its what I hope for - its all about being TRUE to you and realizing that you work to live and not live to work. I repeat there is more than one way to be happy and for the majority of us it doesnt come with a paycheque (well it does but a small part of it). My happy isnt about a mansion. We have a condo. We dont have kids. We have a puppy. We are committed but not walking the aisle for right now. Our happy means us working together to get great quality family time, eat organic yummy foods, try out new restaurants, adventure travel, work with ah-mazing clients, and pick and choose the projects we want to be part of. Some months were making $ and others were living on love. At the end of the day tho, when we make enough $ to live our happy... thats ENOUGH for us.
