When my father died in 2002, he left me his collection of various railway items. Two of these were ex-GWR home and distant signals carefully removed from Hatton, on the Great Western line between Leamington Spa and Birmingham Snow Hill. These had been stored in the garage for many years, and I had no room to store them myself, so I placed them on long term loan to Kidderminster Railway Museum next to the Severn Valley Railway in case they were of use on their Wrangaton Signal Box project. After an absence of several years, we called in today en-route home from a week in Bath and I enquired whether they had been of use. There they were, mounted on a post next to the footpath from the car park to the station, so its the first signals visitors to Kidderminster station see on arrival! I was invited up into the signal box, which has been recreated as a demonstration box, and was invited to pull lever number 3 which controls my signal! The distant signal is timed to pull off automatically 15 seconds later to represent the signalman at the next box down the line pulling it off. I went home feeling delighted and knowing that my dad would have approved of where his two signals have ended up :-)
