When my kids were little, I could make up stories and explanations to amuse them. (Daddy, where do cardboard boxes come from? Well, sweetheart, The Romans invented them for storage. Daddy, is the Little Mermaid in high school? No, baby, shes around 25 now, which means I can ask her out, if youd like to meet her....) I wanted their childhoods to be whimsical and lighthearted, and its not like we didnt dig into serious homework and chores every day. But now, as 14-20 year olds, I get my payback, with some of the goofiest responses to stuff.....my son is grilling steaks last night, and when I ask what seasonings he using, he says, all the same ones The Romans used, Dad.
