When promoting the green vision to others, like we should all be doing, I often get that Environmentalists try and stop everything, and that our activism is costing jobs ect ect ect. Well I can think of 3.4 billion reasons why New Brunswickers should start to listen to Green vision. The first billion reasons was the conversion of Colson Cove to burn Orimulsion. During the EUB hearings green minded people opposed the billion dollar upgrade, my partner Sharon Murphy , Green party candidate for east Saint John asked the simple question, do we even have a contract for orimulsion, and NB Power told her not to worry about it. Turns out they didnt have a contract, and we ended up spending close to a billion dollars on Colson Cove to have it run approximately 8 days a year at a staggering 35 cents per KWH when it does run. The other 2.4 billion reasons New Brunswickers should trust the Green vision is Point Lepreau. Many greens opposed this at the EUB hearings, and actually won when the EUB declared refurbishment was not in the publics interest, but Bernard Lord went ahead anyway. WOW was the EUB ever right. So the next time someone bashes the green vision you can legitimately say if they Government had of listened our debt would be 3.4 billion less than it is today.
