When someone--like, say, a receptionist at a doctors - TopicsExpress

When someone--like, say, a receptionist at a doctors office--apologises for something where they were totally in the wrong--like, say, getting caught up in a catty conversation with coworkers about a patient who had just called and forgetting to check you in for 45 minutes--I never say thats ok or thats fine. I mean, I think youre supposed to, but it isnt ok or fine. I just smile and maybe say something like well it wasnt ideal but thank you for apologizing. Or even just thank you. Its odd how that seems to make me the rude one around here. Society and I sometimes appear to be at cross-purposes.
