When the United States predicted the disintegration of Nigeria - TopicsExpress

When the United States predicted the disintegration of Nigeria by2015, the Nigerian government never gave a damn about this by investigating the reason behind this prediction. America knew that it is the crude oil that has been powering the Nigerian economy and if the black gold becomes incapacitated by price fluctuations and reduction, the Nigerian economy wont be able to survive it. The United States sprang into action by researching into alternatives to crude oil and from nowhere, the shale revolution emerged. For a start, America, which was the largest exporter of Nigerias crude oil stopped buying our oil. Yet, Nigerian policy makers and even the indomitable Iweala, the supervising minister of the economy, failed to see the handwriting on the wall. Instead, baseless promises were been made. The price of crude oil has continued to nose-dive. This has forced the Nigerian government to review the benchmark of crude pilot next years budget downward. Still, our government is still saying that there was misuse for alarm. Today, the price of crude oil in the international market is about $65 US dollars (Nigerias benchmark). With this scenario, Nigerias 2015 economic future is bleak. It has been predicted that many states will not be able to pay salaries from the second quarter of 2015. The situation looks tough but right now, we are only paying lip service to it. We remain unperturbed about the American threat forgetting that America does not believe in making mouth but in action. America knew that without crude oil, Nigeria cannot survived as a political entity and she set out at destabilizing the country through the economy. Ughn! Our leaders are not concerned, instead, political jamboree is the order of the day. Lets prepare for a very Harcourt time in 2015. But I only pity the citizenry. If the worst befalls the country, these people can run away with their ill-gotten wealth but where can we run to?
