When trying on a suit jacket it is important to note the following points: 1. The Arm Length – When your arms are by your side your jacket sleeves should finish approximately half an inch above your shirt sleeve cuffs. 2. The Jacket Length – The Suit jacket should be just long enough to cover the bottom of the zipper on your suit trousers. 3. How The Shoulders Fit - Always double check how the jacket shoulders fit you. The shoulder pads should end at the shoulders – ensure they don’t portrude out any further than this. 4. Check your collar gap - The collar gap is a gap between your jacket’s lapels and your shirts collar. Ideally you want the line of your jackets neckline to follow the line of your shirt collar around your neck.
