When we came in as freshman football players, Coach Talamo had - TopicsExpress

When we came in as freshman football players, Coach Talamo had stepped aside and was replaced by Coach Sulyma but his presence was ALWAYS there. We were all driven by the article published in Sports Illustrated the season before our arrival entitled The Pursuit at Pascack. You can google it, its still available and I remember it like it was yesterday with Joe Bellino, that years Heisman Award Winner from Annapolis on the cover. Joe Talamo is a very special man, put aside football for a moment, he inspired us all from gym class, to the track to field and in the halls of a very special High School. Coaches change and mold their players characters, for the good and in some unfortunate cases, the bad, Joe Talamo shaped everyone of us, male and female, he came in contact with, for the BETTER! He instilled the drive of PRIDE in your inside and taught you to be a competitor but also a respectful opponent. For years after retirement he would sit in his folding chair in the end zone and watch the football team play. My last hug from him was at one of those games when I came to visit my parents and take in a game. I pray for him but I also personally thank him for making me a better Dad and a better person.
