When we enter the kingdom, relying on God is not a hard thing to - TopicsExpress

When we enter the kingdom, relying on God is not a hard thing to do. But quiet often we drift away along the way. Having began in the Spirit we then choose a life driven by self. We get so used to living right until such a point where we now feel able without God’s help. Do you remember the story of Peter? At the Lord’s invitation, he was not afraid to walk on the water. He knew that the Lord’s invitation meant that empowerment had already been disbursed .The first few steps of Peter were most impressive .He walked towards the Lord with focus on Him. Peter had initially said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He ( Jesus) said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus (Matthew 14:28-29).But soon Peter’s focus on Jesus was destructed by an oncoming whirl-wind. The Christian life is much like Peter’s walking on water. Our first few steps are quite a beauty.Having come out of a club or pub into the church is but a miracle to the new convert. He or she is sure that this is a work of God and not a matter of a mental determination. But after a while drifting takes place. We claim to be experienced. We focus on tackling the wind with our own strength. Dealing with our flesh preoccupies us. This is where we fall and become mere moral people. The highway to heaven soon becomes too steep for us. We settle for becoming good people who tell only one lie a week.
