When we met she caused a spark, That lit me up and chased the dark, And all those days that have passed since, Have all been swell, no need to wince The sun beat down upon our backs, And our love was firm like railway tracks. But lately days seem short and bleak, Now when I call she turns her cheek, And as I approach she sprints away, Leaving me in yesterday. I chased her down and to the park, where we once lay when it was dark, I chased her on the boardwalks planks, And all throughout the cattailed banks, I chased her til my lungs were sore, But even so I followed more. I chased her down the winding roads, But all I heard were lonesome toads. As I called out, "wont you stay!?" She left me there in yesterday. Amongst my friends it may seem, That I am fine and I may beam, But past this face and in my brain, That chase I lost will still remain, When I depart and now am home, I realize here that im alone. No one to call, just empty space, But in my dreams, I see your face, Theres so much that id like to know "My dear, why have you left me so?!" But when i ask shell never say, She cant hear me in yesterday.
