When you advise people or call them to come closer to Islam (whether they are Muslim or not), the Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed us to use the best speech. Unfortunately people sometimes lose sight of this and are harsh and hurtful with one another. This reminds me of the Dua of Musa (‘alayhissalaam), when he was going to deliver Allah’s message to Pharoah and his people: “O my Lord! Open for me my chest (with assurance). And ease my task for me; and make loose the knot from my tongue, that they may understand my speech” (20:25-28). Allah (swt) chose Musa to deliver the message knowing that he was capable, yet Musa was still aware of his human flaws, fearing that he would not deliver the message as well as he wanted. This is a Dua that I always make before I embark on any speaking or da’wah initiatives. It boosts my confidence knowing that, with the permission of Allah (swt), He will put barakah in it and help it reach people’s hearts.
