When you count calories after a work out do you count total - TopicsExpress

When you count calories after a work out do you count total calories burned (tcb) or net calories burned (ncb). Research shows that in order to accurately find out how many calories you are burning during a workout, you need to calculate ncb. Whats the Burn? A Calorie Calculator You can use the formulas below to determine your calorie-burn while running and walking. The Net Calorie Burn measures calories burned, minus basal metabolism. Scientists consider this the best way to evaluate the actual calorie-burn of any exercise. The walking formulas apply to speeds of 3 to 4 mph. At 5 mph and faster, walking burns more calories than running. Your Total Calorie Burn/Mile Your Net Calorie Burn/Mile Running .75 x your weight (in lbs.) .63 x your weight Walking .53 x your weight .30 x your weight Example: a person weights 150 pounds, 150x.3=45 (ncb per mile). If a person walked 3 miles that would be 45x3=135 (ncb for 3 miles). This means that a person actually only burned 135 net calories walking 3 miles. Keep in mind this is based on a speed of 3 miles per hour. The faster you walk the more you burn. Also the longer you walk the more you burn. If I was to calculate the ncb by 6 days, the person in the example would burn 810 calories in 6 days by walking. Dont forget, they say, diet accounts for 80% of weight lost.
