When you find, for whatever reason, that you want to yell at, - TopicsExpress

When you find, for whatever reason, that you want to yell at, murder or punish your child start to notice your breathing. Breath flows. It is a continuous rhythm to which our bodies respond. Notice the speed at which the breath flows. Its depth. Does your belly expand before the breath leaves your body again? Can you make the breaths deeper and bigger? Can you hold the air for 3 seconds at its deepest and then allow your lungs to be completely empty for 3 seconds before allowing air back in again? What if you begin to count the movement of breath? Count one on the inhale and two on the exhale and continue up to Ten. How does your breathing change as you repeat this counting process? Do you still want to murder, yell at or punish your child? Its OK if you do, it just means you need to find another solution - get out into the outdoors, stick a movie on, run a bath, initiate a game, ring a friend. Positive, peaceful, Yes Parents are not without these feelings. They just find ways to deal with them that doesnt involve taking it out on their kids. You got this.
