When you put on your tail, or your paws, suit, or head...when you - TopicsExpress

When you put on your tail, or your paws, suit, or head...when you make your character or fursona jump from imagination or paper into the real world..do you feel more alive? More you? More complete and more confident? Is it a role you play strictly for fun...or do you find yourself as you shed the filters and insecurities of daily life to become that which you truly, at that moment, wish to be? For myself, I can say, I find myself through my fox. I find security. I feel more attractive, more outgoing, happier, and more whole. I feel the weight of the tail swishing behind me and it feels as if was always there. After taking it off, I still feel strange when I walk or reach back to find it isnt there. If imagination was reality, if our physical appearance could match our mental image of who we are, I suppose then Id be that fox when Im in my happiest moments. For me he represents strength, transition, happiness, and calmness. Hes what I aspire to be in my behaviors and moods and goals. My character, who is accomplishing his dreams...inspires me to accomplish my own. And feeling him come alive through costume reminds me to not let life drag me down and drain me..that I can be more than just a shell or remnant of a person after work and stress takes its toll. Tell me. I want to hear. Are you affected by your cosplay? What does it do for you? How does it make you feel inside? Does it make your life better? Do you come alive?
