When your state government is stereotyping bicyclists what hope - TopicsExpress

When your state government is stereotyping bicyclists what hope have we in changing road users attitudes towards them? The courteous driver in this new QLD road safety campaign is referred to as Tom and the courteous Truck drivers as Truckies, meanwhile the courteous Bicycle rider is referred to as Mr Weekend Lycra Thanks to the QLD government we are assured that more widespread negative terminology will be used to stereotype, slander & hurl at the Mums, Dads, Men, Women & Children who make up Australias most vulnerable road user groups via the usual moronic media air breathers & vitriolic minority within the motorists ranks. Feeding the ideology of subcultures on which cycling hatred thrives is not what safety is all about. The people who created & agreed to publish this tripe need a reality check in diplomacy, wed expect an empathetic government to see that this video is promptly amended to show us as people rather than pests. This is supposed to be a One Good Deed Safety campaign when its anything but, planting yet another bad seed into the minds of Queenslands motorist perceptions & one we can definitely do without. If anyone supports our position then please let it be known: Minister for Transport and Main Roads Scott Emerson MP Phone: (07) 3719 7300 Fax: (07) 3220 6228
