When you’re lifting, it’s important to bend your knees and keep the weight that you’re lifting close to the body. Improper lifting can cause serious back injuries. To lift a heavy object, face it with your feet pointed slightly outward and shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees, not your spine then lift the object straight up, using your legs. Don’t twist, bend or lean while lifting. Keep the object as close to your body as possible, carrying most of the weight between your waist and your shoulders
