Whenever I visit a new dentist, I ask about the period after which the toothbrush prescribed by him/her should be replaced by new one. Their usual reply is 3 to 6 months even if its bristles are o.k.. On asking the reason, they say accumulation of bacteria and germs at the root of bristles. On asking- if your prescribed toothpaste can kill all bacteria and germs of my mouth, why cant it kill the bacteria on the brush?, usually the answer is only an ad-worthy smile.
