Where do you get your Wisdom? We all like to think we are very - TopicsExpress

Where do you get your Wisdom? We all like to think we are very selective about the things we listen to, or the places we go to get information. It seems that with the technology explosion taking place, we can be instantly educated on just about any topic we choose. All you have to do is flip a switch, or simply touch a screen to receive massive amounts of information intended to make our lives much easier. It all sounds go good to be true, and at times, it is. When we look to places other than our God for guidance, when we seek wisdom from any other source, we are staring down a dangerous road. We need to be a little more selective about our sources. “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” James 3:13-18(NKJV) We can be easily convinced that we can be wiser, making decisions throughout our lives without ever opening ourselves to the possibility that God has the answer. God has a plan for our lives, telling us this in the Book of Jeremiah. “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11(NIV) It’s all about having more of God’s wisdom. It’s all about His plan for our lives, doing His will, His way. The trick is knowing His plan and doing our part to bring it to fruition. When we do this, we are making ourselves more available to God for use in achieving His purpose for our lives. As we think of ourselves less, we are thinking of our God more and more. We are all the smarter, wiser for living the life He has created for us. When we do this, we are avoiding the “sensual, demonic” influences this world has to offer. We are diving deep into God’s Word, being educated in His plan and carrying this out with His help. It all starts to fall together when we are living a life pleasing to our God. We are given wisdom beyond our own in order to make the change we need to make in our lives. It now becomes a matter of being able to stick to this plan without deviation. We are getting our wisdom from a source that cannot be beat. We are listening and following the instructions from our God, living a life that reflects His wisdom and honoring Him in the process. So I ask again, where are you getting your wisdom? “in the world, not of the world”
