Where is all of the explanation of all of the parallel federal job killing policies that are having as much or more effect on Michigans economy than tax shifting? To say 95,000 businesses no longer pay taxes is misleading. Small companies paid double income taxes, giving the illusion that tax credits and free pensions were affordable for Michigan. Now all Michigan INDIVIDUALS are subject to the same tax rules. Most of the tax credits that our governor changed or eliminated are still available on our federal tax returns. All the double dipping on family businesses and tax credits made Michigan strangely reliant on pretend money and took away the ability of individuals who own their small businesses at a disadvantage for saving for retirement and buying health insurance so others could have a nice ride in the wagon freep/story/opinion/contributors/raw-data/2014/10/04/michigan-taxes-snyder/16683967/
