Where is the difference between...frog and toad? To distinguish a frog from a toad - try touching it! Living in drier habitats, a toad has rather dry skin that is also warty. Frogs instead prefer moister environments and possess a rather slimy skin. If you happen to come across the eggs of these animals: frogs lay their eggs in clusters, whereas toads line them up. If you see them move: a frog is more a jumping kind of animal, whereas toads do usually not hop, but crawl along instead.
