Where would Barbara Kingsolver be without indie booksellers handselling her first book, The Bean Trees? We had an entire window devoted to the Sebastopol childrens specialists favorite book of 1997, which happened to be Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone. (Remember our J.K. Rowling book-signing event at Maria Carrillo High School in 1999?) Later, one of our booksellers discovered the book The Art of Racing in the Rain from an advance reading copy, and we had a low-key author meet-and-greet at the time. Indie booksellers are finding the books you want to read. Thank you for asking, thank you for attending our author events, and thank you for your appreciation of independent bookstores.
