Wheres the Booty? The way that ou nation conducts warfare has spilled over into our dynamics of spiritual warfare. Our government always wants to be known as Mr. Nice Guy. We spend $billions building back whatever we blasted down to a better state than it ever was before. US Armed forces are forbidden to take booty from fields of victory. Instead we leave our armaments behind at wars end for enemies to use against us after were through helping them recover from the national devastations we heaped upon them. Other nations dont actually respect us. For them our mode of doing warfare is nothing to dread as there are no penalties. Declaring war on America is the quick road to recovery for failing national economies. We pay our enemies $billions annually to like us and to play nice in their neighborhoods. We all know how well thats worked for us with Muslim lands. Not! Can you think of any good reason why generous percentages of Iraqs oil revenues are not levied as fines to payback our expenses for liberating them from the likes of Hussein and the ISIL? The Bible presents a much more efficient and wiser way of waging war. Collateral damage is a reality that was to be expected. Cities were razed to the ground; wells stopped up; and farm fields were salted to prevent harvests. And, much booty of captive people and treasures were stripped from battlefields. The objective was to make war with Gods people a terrorizing memory that none ever want repeated. Most of the time when Christian preachers sermonize about spiritual warfare, they only emphasize our power and authority over satanic forces. They dont say much about the rewards from the spoils of battle. You would think that we were enlisted in Gods army just for the fun of playing war. Wheres the booty? Abraham gave Melchizedek tithes from battle booty. Jehoshaphats men had good reason to praise God going to the war and perhaps more so coming home from it. It took them days to gather the treasures from dead enemy bodies. The Samaritan lepers first enjoyed their fill of the goodies of the troops that God had supernaturally routed. Afterward, they became celebrities by divulging the existence and location of the booty cache to the starving of their hometown that had formerly rejected them. David didn’t kill Goliath solely out of righteous indignation. He wanted the King’s ransom of gold, exemption from taxes, and a princess bride. Though David was a man after God’s own heart, he wanted Saul to show him the booty. We must remember that in some respects, Jesus is an austere husbandman. He anticipates that his workers will reap harvests from entirely new fields. It’s legitimate for you to expect for there to be tangible evidence of your victories in spiritual battles. Of course, the primary rewards are souls saved; marriages restored; bodies healed; and the despairing and the depressed becoming joyful productive citizens. But, you have personal rewards coming too. Its a spiritual principle that those who sow in the spiritual dimension are to reap from the material dimension. I praise God, that if you ask him to show you the booty; hell show you the money in vocational promotions and windfalls of goods, services, and cash from unexpected sources. No more mealy-mouthed Mr. Nice Guy who extracts nothing from satanic battles. From now on, expect to gather booty that compensates generously for your time and efforts.
