Whew!!! What a rough few days it has been for this old man, and especially so today. As I posted a few days ago, I was in the ER for uncontrolled nose bleeds and blood pressure that was spiking off the chart. That was Christmas Day. Well, it has continued since then, with more nose bleeds, and blood pressure from below normal to as high as 179/104, with very little sleep. This morning at 4:45, I was outta bed with blood still dripping, only to get worse about 6. Off to the ER, I ended up getting my nose cauterized and sent back home. Before I made it home (2 miles away) I was bleeding again. I called my Dr. who saw me in the office, set me up for a renal artery ultrasound, set me up an appt. with an Ear Nose & Throat Doctor, and talked with my cardiologists/BP Specialist office at Vanderbilt to let them know what was going on, which resulted in a scheduled appt as well. Thankfully during this most of the bleeding subsided. From the doctors office, I went back to the hospital to get the ultrasound done, and just before I was taken in for the U/S, my nose began to pour again, and continued bleeding for the entire time during the US. After finishing at the hospital, I made my way to the ENT doctor, who started working on my nosebleed right away. He found the cause of my bleeding as a dried and cracked nasal passage, where he proceeded to numb me, suction, cauterize and pack my nose, which will remain packed for 48 hours. The US results were good, but still does not explain the crazy BP issues, so, its off to Vanderbilt in a few days to see what needs to be done and/or figured out. For now the bleeding is mostly stopped, I have a Jimmy Durante nose, and Im about 2 quarts low on blood (Not really, but I have lost a lotta blood, and a weak lil feller) Hopefully Ill be back to normal soon.
