While 84 and 02 riots have been discussed in great detail for its barbarity and inhuman nature, one very intriguing fact is hat 83 Nellie massacre/riot of Assam does not get discussed anywhere. Shekhars edit in Indian Express today had a reference abut that. I tried to search for it in wiki but got a very abridged version. I am just amazed as to why it never figures in public discourse -- is i because it was more of an ethnic killing rather than a religious killing and ethnic killings are not of great political significance? Probably some friend from Assam can help explain this.
