While Cody ties in the trailer (a confined area where he cant move - TopicsExpress

While Cody ties in the trailer (a confined area where he cant move too much), I have not worked with him much at all in tying elsewhere. I have been purposely waiting on teaching him this for safety reasons, as Cody moves his head around much more than other horses. When I initially starting working with him to tie to a rail a while ago, he would put his head down too often and hit his head. If I did this with his head bumper on, he would pry it and his halter off under the rail. This evening, after playing in the turnout, I started to work with Cody in tying in the cross ties (a rope/tie that attaches to each side of his halter, no rail involved). For this evening, since it is all very new to him, I only attached one side to his halter. As you can see from the video, he moves his head A LOT and had a good time tasting the tie. We will work on this type of tying more often and eventually have him tied on both sides.
