While I usually sit back and read some of my closest friends post - TopicsExpress

While I usually sit back and read some of my closest friends post their opinion about politics and news, I never comment or share my opinion but after watching my 21 year old BLACK son become not only disgusted and outraged by watching this man get choked to death by an officer, I saw the fear in his eyes of knowing this could be him or one of his many friends one day. Everyone who knows us knows what an outstanding young man he is. Whats sad is that Ive had to instill in him and remind him through out his life, growing up in a white community and school, that he couldnt afford to mess up he cant afford to make one wrong decision and that he always had to be aware of his playful white friends that were getting in trouble being REGULAR teens making NORMAL teenage mistakes because if he were to make just ONE he would be forever be known as a THUG and his consequences would be greater! Racial profiling is real! My family has experienced it more then once and its very scary! Getting pulled over in Florence while 9months pregnant and being told it was for not stopping at a stop sign and the officer forcing my 10,9 and 3 yr old to walk a quarter of a mile home in the snow with no sidewalk at 9pm in the middle of a snow storm! I watched, crying my eyes out pleading with the officer in shock! To an officer reaching for his gun threatening and screaming at my 15yr old son to keep his hands in his pockets, after Jalen being stopped and questioned repeatedly while on his way home from football practice at Conner High school. While not agreeing with the rioting, I most definitely agree with the protest! Something has to be done! And to all my so called friends that continue to throw around the word THUG you can unfriend me if you choose because youre one click away from not knowing me anymore anyway!
