While I was in Vietnam I encountered an enemy that had a very different view about the value of human life than we have in the west. When we project our western view onto everyone else, we fundamentally misunderstand the nature of some conflicts. Its simply impossible for us to imagine that anyone could hold a diametrically opposed view about life than we hold. That leads to terrible mistakes. When an enemy holds a low view about the value of human life, the life of their own people, it leaves no room for realistic negotiations for peace, which must be based on a shared desire for the killing to end. The terrible reality is that if such an implacable enemy confronts a nation, the only way to assure peace is to utterly destroy them. How horrible this is. israelvideonetwork/dont-stop-sharing-this-until-every-mother-has-seen-it
