While Seminyak is best known for its upscale resorts and fine dining, the trendy beach town should now also be considered the hottest nightlife area on the island. There are no free-flow power-hours or ultra-cheap drink specials that are the trademark of Kuta Beach’s nightlife scene, but Seminyak bars and clubs are arguably worth every penny. Offering everything from beachfront sunset bars and nightclubs to latin dancing venues and cross-dressing cabaret shows, the Seminyak scene is not only sophisticated but also wildly diverse. Double Six Beach and Gado Gado Beach both offer a number of excellent beach-front and beachside bars, ideal for catching a spectacular sunset. Cocoon, Crystal Palace, and La Plancha are popular options in south Seminyak; the beachfront of Petitenget Beach features SOS, Ku De Ta, Potato Head, and Woo Bar at the W hotel. Some of these venues offer live music and bean-bag-on-the-sand seating, others require reservations and have no-Bintang-t-shirt policies. All are great for sunset cocktails and dinner or drinks beneath the stars. Raya Seminyak, Kayu Aya (Oberoi), and Petitenget Roads in Seminyak offer many sophisticated dining, drinking, and clubbing venues. **Live music** is frequently offered at Mannekepis, Ryoshi, Jaya Pub, and Queens Tandoor on Raya Seminyak; at JP’s and Santa Fe on Camplung Tanduk; and at Zappaz on Kayu Aya Road. For **beach parties** Cocoon throws sophisticated pool parties at their venue across the street from Double Six Beach, while La Plancha and Crystal Palace host late night dance parties directly on the sand. A lively **gay bar** scene with nightly **cabaret shows** is found in a cluster of clubs half-way down Camplung Tanduk, including the most lively shows at the festive Bali Joe. For **Latin Dancing**, including Salsa and Bachata, check out Bahiana, JPs, and Cubana, each of which hosts live bands, classes, and a regular clientele on various nights of the week. For **dance clubs**, including those hosting international and local DJs, head over to Petitenget Road, where Mint, Hu’u, and Eatoss are located. For after-hours fun in South Seminyak, Maria Magdelena doesn’t get happening until well after midnight. Those into sports should check out two dedicated **Sports Bars**, one on either side of Seminyak: Galaxy and the Deck, though another sports bar is located at Seminyak Square, for those staying on Kayu Aya. Although there aren’t a lot of **Balinese Dance** performances occurring in this part of the island, Made’s Warung has nightly performances, many featuring local dance. Seminyak Square also hosts a dance performance or two each week. Those interested in shooting some pool, there are some excellent **pool tables** at The Deck, and additional tables, as well as bowling and movie theaters located down the road in Kuta Beach.
