While eating lunch today, I ended up turning on the last half of a Rifleman episode. I remember the sound of that Winchester quite well, even though Im not a gun enthusiast. While I was cleaning up and moving on to the afternoon items on my list, I left AMC on to listen to the next show, Joe Kidd, a Clint Eastwood western. Within about 20 minutes I hear that same sound. What the heck? Turns out that the 1892 Winchester was a popular rifle in the West, and was one of the 5 rifles used in the movie. What I wonder is, is the sound of the rifle firing ike all rifles, or is it unique to the 1892 Winchester? Im guessing its unique to the Winchester, since the other rifles in westerns dont sound like it. Nate Levine? That trivia question is not answered in this otherwise informative part of Wikipedia. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rifleman#Rifle
