While fashionable awards (like the just-announced Oscar nominations) recognize celebrities, how often do we honor our own - those close to home who have changed us by making local history, telling a new story, or by shining a light on our shared human culture? The New Hampshire Humanities Council seeks to celebrate 40 New Hampshire-based people who over the past 40 years have demonstrated what it means to create, teach, lead, assist, and encourage human understanding. The 40 Over 40 Awards will honor individuals who have made a significant impact on the cultural life of the state over our 40 year history. They could be teachers, journalists, philanthropists, authors, filmmakers, library program organizers, literacy volunteers, and they need NOT be over 40 years old. Who are your humanities heroes? Click below to submit your nomination by January 31 as we prepare to recognize and honor the best of our own at a gala Forty Over 40 celebration at the Grappone Center in Concord on June 16. And please SHARE!
