While the Sheriff attempted to make contact with the owner and - TopicsExpress

While the Sheriff attempted to make contact with the owner and recorded the scene, we made our way to the back yard to meet this dog in need. He blended in with the dirt and grass. He was curled up and so small, it took a second to realize what we were looking at. He was in the exact position as in the photos sent to us hours earlier in the day. His chained was twisted with the piece of a water hose that it limited his space to a couple of feet. He reached his paw over and rolled a piece of his dried feces to eat. His water bowl had nothing but old grass blades in it. We fed him some bison sausage doggie treats through the fence, he nibbled on my fingers and licked them. He drank water. We kept waiting, no answer. We fed him a can of dog food by raising the pan through the fence. He licked his bowl clean. We waited. The Sheriff had to leave and will be filing a report. We started to untangle his chain. The sun was setting and it was starting to feel cooler...he started to tremble. We waited. Finally, the man drove up. We walked toward the sidewalk to meet him. The dog lowered his head as we left him. After much talk with him, letting us into his property and telling us about the dog, he released him to us. When I put him on a leash, he ran straight toward the front, through the narrow opening in the gate toward our vehicles. He looked at nothing but forward, did not look at the healthy dog running loose in the yard, he had no good-byes or paws up for anybody, there. He met his Voice, Phoon Wright. Stood around for a while...then, he walked with us to get on board. As soon as I opened the tailgate hatch, he stood up and tried jumping in! He got into to crate and squeaked his toys and rubbed and rubbed and rubbed against the blankets. He curled up and slept the entire drive back to the rescue... His name is Epic, the Box-a-Shar.
