Who Killed Davey Moore? Is a somewhat obscure Bob Dylan song from the early 1960s. Anyone who bothers to listen to the lyrics will understand how apposite they are to the tragic death of Brenda Leyland. Its disappointing to see the recriminations and finger pointing have already begun in some quarters; angry voices looking for someone to blame. Should it be Martin Brunt, who doorstepped the hapless Sweepyface and told her a file had been passed to the police with her name in? Is it Sky News, who led with this throughout the day, when there were far more important things happening in the world? Is it the media, who labelled Brenda a troll and splashed her face over their front pages? Is it Summers & Swan, who dedicated whole chapters of their book to the haters and used the resulting backlash as cheap publicity? Is it whoever put together the dossier and passed it to the police and the media? Is it the McCanns for wanting more prosecutions? Is it the forums and those behind them, who helped create this febrile atmosphere? Is it the antis or the pros, who post and tweet their thoughts on a daily basis, slugging it out, casually slurring others and indulging in hurtful insults? Or is it Brenda herself, who took to Twitter to share her dark suspicions without having any proof? How many more Brendas will there need to be before the penny finally drops?
