Who is Howland Jones? We have been in Barwell just over four months now and I thought this would be a good time to reflect on our journey so far. I have written each week about my own thoughts and ideas on investing in the general area, sharing my ideas with you, making comparisons between streets, estates and villages; considering the need for balance between healthy yield and predicted capital growth. One might excuse the reader for expecting the new letting agent in the area to “blow their own trumpet” so to speak; to shout about how we “urgently require new property for waiting tenants”, or “call now to book your free rental valuation” (does any agent really charge for providing rental valuations?). And the irritant at the top of my list “Discounted fees for new landlords”! I can’t see many of my existing clients being too chuffed about that! Residential lettings is a competitive market. In Hinckley alone there are some 23 letting agents, 16 of which are primarily estate agents selling property (5 of whom are nationals), 2 which are franchises, leaving just 4 of us operating independent specialist residential letting agencies. Our focus can only ever be on managing your property effectively and professionally. I could tell you we are the “most ARLA registered agency” in Measham, or that we will “let your property in record times”. But rather than shout about some of the facts surrounding how I operate my company, I prefer to offer my personal insight to the local buy-to-let market and gain your interest by providing evidence of our achievements through our advertising. My company is the only letting agency with a presence at both ends of the Hinckley/Measham corridor with our new office in Barwell and our 13 year old business in Measham, providing landlords and tenants with the local presence often required to buy your peace of mind. I have always been a firm believer that you get what you pay for. I don’t offer my clients gimmicks, rock bottom fees or false promises. I offer a professional residential letting service which will earn your loyalty and trust and will stand the test of time. 67% of my new business comes from recommendations or portfolio expansion, which speaks for itself.
