Who is that man under the paint? Rusty the rodeo clown - TopicsExpress

Who is that man under the paint? Rusty the rodeo clown performs a daring and dangerous job. Pictured here at Sydneys Royal Easter Show, traditionally the rodeo clown’s job is both comic relief and distraction: he must protect a fallen rodeo rider by engaging the bull with his antics. Perhaps Rusty’s face paint is a type of body armour, a mask of invincibility? Certainly the wearer’s mere mortal persona is disguised! This image from our Pictures Collection features in Body Art, a National Library of Australia publication exploring many types of body adornment from permanent body decoration involving needles and ink, to that which can be washed off after the show.
