Who is the Blue Jay behaviorist? I snapped the photo below yesterday. These two Blue Jays would fly around a bit then this one would lay prostrate on the ground like this,wings stretched out, for up to a minute. It was a pattern - did it three times back to back. If you look at the image in expanded mode, you will see the beak is open. I have never seen this before. Is it there mating time? Is it part of their mating ritual? I have never seen this before. Who knows?
