Who loves spring snowstorms in Colorado?...I do! Substantial storm - TopicsExpress

Who loves spring snowstorms in Colorado?...I do! Substantial storm on track to bring snow to the front-range and mountains on Sunday. Models have been pretty consistent so my confidence is growing. Image below shows a deep trough approaching the 4-corners Sunday afternoon and this is in a good position to generate upslope and heavy precip (second image) over the Denver/Boulder area. Biggest impact will be from 3pm Sunday to 9pm Sunday. Initially rain will develop early Sunday morning, then a rain snow mix by sunrise, then all snow after about 9am Sunday. Moderate / heavy snow will be possible Sunday afternoon and evening. Warm roads and ground temperatures will initially limit accumulation to just grassy areas, but snow could start accumulating on the roads after about 4pm. Looks like it will be nasty driving around Sunday night. Snow should end by early Monday morning. At this point expecting about 4-9 of snow over the Denver/Boulder area, mostly on the grass with highest amounts near the foothills (Boulder, Golden, ect) and over/near the Palmer Divide (Highlands Ranch, Parker, Castle Rock). South Denver could get rocked pretty hard on Sunday night. Ill update tomorrow.
