Who makes Candy Trees ... I used to own an award winning confectionery business and we made HUNDREDS... We had many high profile customer we made Candy Trees for a Rhiannas red while and blue Concert in Glasgow. The one thing I saw so many people doing was using stones, foam, plaster of Paris in the pot to make the stem stand up. Plaster of Paris .. forget it far too expensive production wise your really bumping up your costs. Stones and Foam dodgy when the sweets are on the tree it becomes top heavy and they topple .. the best product we found was POST MIX .. you get it from any DIY store its about £5 for a huge builders bag... Get your bucket, take a plastic back place it in the bucket and spread out over the edges (like when you put a bin liner in a bin) ... Half fill the pot with post mix.. then add a few drops of water DONT STIR the post mix will absorb the water and begin to set .. stand your stem (wooden dowel) in the centre of your pot press into the post mix ensuring its upright and not leaning to the side... VOILÀ you have your stem .. What we used to do is we used to put cool glue (never got glue its bloody lethal) around the base of the stem press the bag down and cut off the excess... you should when the mix has fully set be now able to pop the stem and mix out of the pot .. wrap tissue paper around the bagged post mix for decorative purpose and pop back in the pot. this makes your pot 100% reusable ... We tried every method going and this was the best way .. you can make up a number of stems pre made and then just pop them in the colour choice pot your customer chooses. you can buy all coloured of pots from a company called Country Baskets with stores nationwide. free delivery within 25 miles of any branch.
