Who`s In The dock Today ? It is Congress. It is Rahul Gandhi. It is Sonia Gandhi for their biggest political accountability and Bluff about 2002 Gujarat Riots.? You need to read this here 1984 Reckoning Awaits... By Minhaz Merchant Minhaz Merchant is chairman and group editor-in-chief of Merchant Media Ltd. A recipient of the Lady Jeejeebhoy prize for physics, he heads the groups think-tank Global Intelligence Review and is the author of biographies of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and the late industrialist Aditya Birla. This is what the Author says in his Editorial views... Rahul Gandhi in his interview to Arnab Goswami on Times Now said “some Congressmen may have been involved” in the genocide. Clearly, the 1984 anti-Sikh pogrom deserves far more media, public and legal scrutiny than it has received. Let me quote from a piece I wrote on September 3, 2012 to provide the background to the genocide: “Within hours of Mrs. Gandhi’s assassination, mobs began to gather in Delhi. Between the night of October 31 and the afternoon of November 3, over 3,000 Sikhs were killed in cold blood in Delhi alone. Well-known leaders of the Congress allegedly led the mobs. The lack of television coverage ensured few outside Delhi realized the full horror of what transpired in those three terror-filled days. “But the stories spilled out, bit by gruesome bit. The Sikh neighbor of the Delhi Bureau Chief of one of my magazines was within seconds of being beheaded. Our bureau chief, Atul Dev, himself a retired army major, stood his ground as the Sikh neighbor took shelter in his house in Nizamuddin West. The mob dispersed. Others weren’t as fortunate. “CBI counsel R.S.Cheema declared in open court, presided over by Additional Sessions Judge J.R. Aryan: ‘The Delhi police acted in a pre-planned manner and kept its eyes closed to the violence. Whatever action was taken by the police was taken against the people who helped the Sikhs. Police did not take action against the main culprits. No policeman recorded complaints. They did not interfere to help the victims. The riots were well-organized and backed by both the government and the police.’” Turn now to Rahul’s comment to Arnab Goswami that Narendra Modi “abetted the 2002 riots”. Is that statement backed up by facts? Only a judge who has studied the Supreme Court-monitored SIT probe into the 2002 riots and the appended report of the amicus curiae Raju Ramachandran can have a clear idea of what happened. Justice Ganatra of the Ahmadabad Metropolitan Court in his 440-page order on December 26, 2013 accepted the SIT report which cleared Modi of culpability in the only case against him – the Gulbarg Society attack. Should matters rest there as the NCP’s Praful Patel has said? (The likelihood of a higher court overturning a strongly worded order by a trial court which examined dozens of witnesses and voluminous evidence is fairly small.) Two charges against Modi, however, need to be answered. One : - Did Modi order the dead bodies of the Godhra train burning victims to be paraded in broad daylight to enrage Hindu mobs as is still widely alleged in the media? This is what Justice Ganatra wrote in his order on December 26, 2013: In the meeting at Godhra Collector’s office, it was unanimously decided to shift the dead bodies (of the karsevaks) to Ahmadabad so that relatives could claim the dead bodies without traveling up to Godhra. Thus the dead bodies were sent by the local administration to Civil Hospital at Sola, Ahmadabad which was located in the outskirts at a less populated area. The dead bodies were transported with police escort at midnight and reached Sola Hospital at early morning. The local administration was there to receive the dead bodies. The court has observed that the decision taken by the authorities, considering the prevailing situation, was just and proper and court agrees with the findings of the SIT. Two : - Did Modi delay calling the army to give Hindu rioters time to avenge the murder of 58 Godhra karsevaks ? Here’s what Justice Ganatra’s order of last month says: SIT has come to the conclusion that from 27.02.2002, State Government was in constant touch with the Central Government to provide the help of the Army. Chief Minister had a talk with the union Home minister on 28.02.2002. A written request was sent by the State Home secretary to the Central Defence Secretary. Due to the attack on Parliament, Army was at forward positions. 40 aircraft were used to air-lift the army personnel to Ahmadabad. First plane landed at Ahmadabad Airport at about 23.00 hrs on 28.02.2002 and the last plane landed at Ahmadabad Airport on 11.00 pm on 01.03.2002. From Ahmadabad some columns of Army were sent to affected Godhra, Vadodara and other districts. Logistic support of SDM and piloting vehicles were provided to conduct flag march in Ahmadabad city. The Court has observed that for this allegation, the SIT has made thorough investigation on this issue and hence it agrees with the findings of the SIT. [ p. 223-229] In 1984, Rajiv Gandhi took 72 hours to call in the army and stop the Sikh genocide. In Gujarat, Modi took 12-24 hours to call in the army. The views expressed in Head On are the author´s own. This account puts Rahul, sonia Gandhi and Congress in the Dock for their false propaganda in the election speeches to prove Narendra Modi, the CM of Gujarat as the accused in Gujarat Riots and then trying to cover-up 1984 Sikh riots. This false charges on Narendra modi for the last 12 years even after Supreme court inquiry Commission finding no shred of evidence against Mr Modi`s involvement as alleged by Congress, directly or indirectly is nothing but Hypocrisy and double standards of dishonest congress party President and vice President. In 2014 elections for this dishonesty, and hypocrisy Congress must be punished because...A genocide and a riot can’t be compared. But in both justice must be done. For 1984, justice has not just been delayed, it’s been denied. Ajay Angre
