Who stands at the forge... Life is a lesson, sometimes they - TopicsExpress

Who stands at the forge... Life is a lesson, sometimes they just arent always the ones we want. While some lessons of life grow us and make us stronger, others bend us bringing us to the point of nearly breaking. Like a rod of steel that is bent, our lives cannot be easily straightened... But if you have ever worked with steel, you know that when heat is applied and the metal is slowly moved back the once bent piece can come out straighter and stronger than it once was. That is what is happening for many of those that I love as well as for myself. For some it has been life struggles, others loss of loved ones, for some marriage struggles, and yet for all of those who have seen their lives bent in one way or another there is hope for a stronger outcome. It starts though with understanding that we are not the one standing at the forge. You see the forger is the expert metal worker, the one who sees every curve, every bend, and every weakness of the metal and is able to craft it, straighten it, strengthen it, and heal it. For our lives and our hearts, there is only one that fits that description and it is God Himself. The problem we face is that many of us hold our lives back in fear that we can never be stronger than we once were, that He may change us too much, that we may forget who we once were. The greatest thing about the Great Forger, is that He never takes away the memory of who we are or what we went through rather He uses it so that we come out stronger and even more beautiful. Yes, the process is not easy and it is not a stamp and heat type of forge. Rather it is a forge worked by the very hands of the Maker himself desiring to help us, heal us, grow us, and use us for His glory. The question though you and I have to ask ourselves is who is standing at the forge of our lives? Is it us standing in the way, unable to use the tools necessary to find healing? Or is it our Maker, not only ready but the only one capable of shaping us into the one who we are supposed to be? So who is standing at your forge?
