Whod a-thunk it? Our local weekly, the Port Washington News, reported the North Shore Animal League in Port Washington, NY, one of the worlds largest animal adoption organizations, will double its size with a new 14,000 square foot addition built under the auspices of radio shock Jock Howard Stern -- my fellow Long Island, NY resident & long-ago Boston University Communications School mate -- & his wife Beth Stern. The facility will be named Biancas Furry Friends, after the couples late bulldog Bianca. Further funding, the article noted, will come from the groups annual gala at Manhattans fabled Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Howards sure come a long way since our BU days almost 40 years ago, but I distinctly recall the campus broo-hah-hah arising from his one-time college radio show Godzilla Goes to Harlem. Im still surprised he never mounted a musical production of it!
