Whoever loves a quarrel loves sin; whoever builds a high gate invites destruction. (Proverbs 17:19) Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. (Psalm 97:10) The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. (Proverbs 8:13) The LORD detests the way of the wicked, but he loves those who pursue righteousness. (Proverbs 15:9) Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the LORD evil is avoided. (Proverbs 16:6) Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18) When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. (Proverbs 11:2)
