Whoop! Posting a bit late! Heres Tuesdays Gamer Roommates strip! It is also the ONE-HUNDREDTH strip! Its about women, and tropes. For more info on this strip and why I was excited to do it, read this paragraph: This particular strip came to life when I recently thought about my deliberate exclusion of the other elements of the gaming roommates cliche, namely, The Woman and the anthropomorphic pet/appliance. I eventually realized that it was because I actually had zero desire to take the parody that far. But I figured I may as well address the situation in the most fair and funny way I could think of. I am very happy with how it turned out. I cannot stand the trope of the ball-busting, man-child rearing overlord woman who shows up solely to express exasperation. I would rather have NO female characters than follow the root of the parody that is “Gamer Roommates” and have one of those. I put women in comic strips all the time simply because women also happen to be people, they can do anything they want to do and inhabit any situation. In fact, I wouldn’t even have the two characters I do now, if they hadn’t spawned simply to support the title of the strip. In the end, these comics are about all kinds of people, places, and things – with occasional cameos by two caricatures of gaming culture. I hope that everyone can find something in Gamer Roommates to enjoy, and I hope that you’ve all enjoyed this hundredth strip. Stay tuned for more. I’ll be around.
