Whos willing to help me get GMOs out of Cheerios? Maybe you dont eat Cheerios, but you can get an empty box from neighbors, family members, ask on Freecycle, etc. so you can help with this action. Last year, General Mills spent $1.1 million to help defeat Californias Prop 37 to label GMOs in that state. This year, General Mills and other corporations secretly funneled their money through the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) to fight against a similar measure in Washington state. Now, just weeks after it took a lawsuit by the Washington state Attorney General to uncover which food corporations were contributing through the GMA, weve learned that the GMA and its allies are working to enact a federal labeling solution that would BAN state-level initiatives, while leaving federal-level labeling voluntary. We are NOT SATISFIED by this at all. Thats why were taking our No GMOs in Cheerios campaign up a notch. You know those satisfaction guaranteed panels on all Cheerios products? Were calling on all of our supporters to send those panels back to Cheerios with a note explaining that you want GMOs out, and that youre NOT SATISFIED by General Mills fighting against your right to know. And if you dont have a Cheerios product in your house, this is a great moment to find someone who does, borrow their box, and let them know what General Mills is up to in the process.
