Why Diego Costa To Chelsea Is Disastrous For Arsenal. The powerful forwards proposed move to the Premier League could spark a transfer merry-go-round... It’s been a transfer wrangle which has rumbled on for months already – and, according to The Independent, there finally appears to be some movement in the Diego Costa to Chelsea saga. Following Atletico’s loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final last night, rumours are hotting up that the Brazil-born Spanish striker might have played his last game for Los Rojiblancos, and could well pitch up in West London over the summer. His arrival in the capital is certainly long overdue for a Chelsea side which cannot score for toffee, yet, ironically, have sent their biggest threat, Romelu Lukaku, TO the Toffees – and his natural power and goalscoring ability would spark fear across the Premier League. He won’t come cheap – but his £35 million capture could be facilitated by the Blues’ imminent £50 million sale of David Luiz to PSG, and the transfer could have more disastrous consequences for the Blues’ rivals, Arsenal, as it emerges that Atletico boss Diego Simeone has already earmarked handsome Gunners forward Olivier Giroud to fill Costa’s boots at the Vicente Calderon Stadium next season. The Frenchman has long been said to want an exit from the Emirates, and rumour has it that his wife has had a big say in that decision, ever since the player was caught with his pants down (literally), with a stunning girl in a London hotel (sounds horrible, doesn’t it). Having signed from Montpellier for a bargain £9.6million, Arsenal would certainly be in line to profit from their striker – but whether that cash could enable a successful move for Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, who Wenger is eyeing but will doubtless cost a pretty penny, remains to be seen.
