Why I dont watermark my work : A watermark is simply a name/word - TopicsExpress

Why I dont watermark my work : A watermark is simply a name/word etc that is placed over a photo, usually in transparent lettering. It is done so that if the photo was printed off it would print with the watermark on it and therefore could not be hung up or sold. It basically stops people from stealing a photo off the internet. Watermarks are not suitable for my work as they are all individually done. Plus they ruin the image and advert of the piece I am showing. A piece of work is automatically copyrighted as soon as it is physically created. If you see a piece of my work on this page (or anywhere else) it is copyrighted, I also own the design rights of every piece I show so it is not possible to take a design of mine and recreate it eg The design of placing naval words/phrases inside the shape of a wren (bird) is mine. If you create the same thing and put it on a mug, you have infringed my design right. I avoid watermarking my work and stating the copyright rules on all my work as I want you to enjoy what I create. - It would also be very difficult to print off a good quality print of anything I post as the detail quality would be too poor to print due to the way I upload images). It is common nice-ness to not copy or steal an artists work, nor is is very nice to take my designs and ask someone else to recreate it for cheaper. Anyone who is seen to be doing anything that infringes on my copyright or design right will receive a legal document requesting them to cease and desist and legal action will be taken if they refuse. Its a tough business unfortunately and I dont like sitting in the dark because I cant afford to pay my electricity bill
