Ironically the decision to propose forming coalition with right-populist ANEL does the KKE a huge favor, saves them from catastrophe in fact: 1) Asking Koutsoumbas (KKE) to form a government before Kammenos (ANEL) would force the CP to shoulder the responsibility of declining a left government, absolving Tsipras and probably halving KKEs constituency. 2) proposing to form a government with ANEL (otherwise the mandate according to Greek parliamentary law passes to ND who would propose co-governance probably with Potami, a much more frightening scenario) deliberately proves and fulfills KKEs prophecy about Tsipras opportunism. Keep in mind 3) if SYRIZA EC wanted at this moment they could destroy the KKE by pursuing option 1, knowing the KKE would refuse to form coalition and the catastrophic repercussions of this. The KKEs desperate refusal to get their hands dirty at a time when a significant portion of the population is politicized attests to ideological and practical sclerosis, if not all out historical failure.
