Why Im happy with my London trip this time (the horrendous immigration experience aside): 1. I got a nice and relatively inexpensive hotel thats 4* near Gatwick Airport. 2. 2 girls in the hotel elevator and 1 elderly lady at the bus stop chatted with me. On top of that, another girl at the Tower Bridge snapped a photo with me. All spontaneously and really caught me by surprise. And thats with an unashamed American accent throughout. Maybe if I spoke like James Bond I could get more.. LOL! 3. I figured out a cheaper way to get to London from Gatwick. Usual way: Gatwick Express, GBP35 return ticket. Yesterday: GBP20 with bus + regular train off peak tickets. 4. The lady who sold me souvenirs at Bayswater threw in at least 3 free keychains. All the souvenirs are for friends, except for 1 t-shirt for myself. 5. I had two very delicious scones with jam and cream at the County Hall. No scones in Vienna. In Malaysia you need to go to Cameron Highlands or Harrods KLCC to get nice scones.
