Why are we hearing the word Colonization so much lately? And why after all these years is it being dredged up as the latest excuse for everything that is wrong in certain segments of Canadian society. The list of countries that have been colonized is huge. In fact it is easier to name the handful of countries that were NOT colonized. Ill start with Liberia. And hows that going for them? Others are Thailand, Bhutan, Iran, China, Nepal, Tonga, Ethiopia & Korea. Not exactly pillars of the human rights and democracy.There is also Japan and Australia who have their geographical location to thank for their independence. History can not be re-written. If it could life might have been better for those who were victims of slavery and the wholesale slaughter of millions in countries where entire ethnicities were targeted for extermination. If I hear another person compare our early Canadian history to a Holocaust I will slap them silly.
